Finally\, you’ll make a smaller candle or votive\, ideal for everyday use or gifting. \nAlong the way\, we’ll share tips on working with beeswax\, its natural benefits\, and how to achieve clean\, long-lasting burns. DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nIn this workshop\, participants will learn the traditional Slavic art of decorating Kraslice Easter Eggs using a colored wax drawing technique. \nUsing melted wax from colored beeswax crayons and simple tools\, participants will draw delicate lines\, dots\, and floral motifs directly onto the egg. The wax remains on the egg\, creating raised patterns and vibrant folk designs inspired by traditional Slavic ornamentation. \nAcross many Slavic cultures\, decorated eggs symbolize spring\, renewal\, protection\, and new life. Each pattern and color carries meaning\, turning a simple egg into a small piece of symbolic art. \nParticipants will learn basic traditional motifs and techniques while creating their own unique eggs to take home. \nThis workshop is open to beginners\, no experience required and focuses on creativity\, cultural tradition\, and the joy of making something beautiful by hand. \nYour Instructor: \nJana Baca is the creator of Slavic Spirit\, a community dedicated to sharing Slavic traditions\, folklore\, and nature-inspired crafts through storytelling\, workshops\, and handmade art. Born in Slovakia and now living in Durham Region\, Jana draws inspiration from the traditions of her ancestors and the seasonal cycles that shaped Slavic culture. \nThrough Slavic Spirit\, she shares traditional crafts such as Kraslice (decorated eggs)\, and symbolic folk art\, helping people reconnect with the stories and meanings behind these beautiful traditions. DESCRIPTION:PYSANKY! Presented by Bozena Hrycyna of This Folk Life\nLearn how to make beautiful Pysanky Easter Eggs in the traditional Ukrainian style using aniline dyes.\nPysanka (literal translation is “written egg”) is an egg inscribed with magical symbols that were traditionally inscribed on eggs for generations. \nLearn about this ancient and beautiful way of ushering in spring\, and the techniques necessary to transform a plain egg into an intricate colourful object of hope!
